The Hive's annual community street festival:

Street party for the community and May arts festival - the Hive in Shrewsbury

Our 2012 Mayday community street festival:

The 2012 street party took place on Belmont on May 7th 2012. With the help of numerous supporters and associates, the Hive Music and Media Centre provided another successful day for everyone involved within the local community. The Mayday event followed on directly from the centre's popular Royal Wedding street party hosted in April 2011.

There was an exciting variety of activities and attractions on offer for people of all ages in 2012, in addition to acoustic performances, street theatre, arts and crafts workshops, information stalls, refreshments and lots more. A whole host of interactive workshops and community activities were also scheduled for the benefit of visitors and these included the following;

  • Face painting
  • Textile and material workshops
  • Live acoustic music from local Shropshire musicians
  • Several childrens craft workshops
  • Maypole and traditional dancing workshops
  • Resident Hive DJ
  • Ice cream from Iddy's Ices
  • Taiko drumming workshops
  • Samba drumming performances
  • Stop-frame animation workshops
  • Shrewsbury Jazz Network
