Hive announces summer 2012 programme:

Summer at the Hive - activities, workshops and events

Shropshire arts venue the Hive Music and Media Centre has recently unveiled details of the organisation’s packed summer season, with a whole host of activities, events and projects on offer for the benefit of local people.

Details of the summer programme come as the Hive announces its summer brochure which is now available across the county.

Popular events return to the venue as part of the summer season such as the monthly folk concerts, where artists performing including Kieran Goss, Megson, Roddy Woomble and Vamm. Shrewsbury Jazz Network will continue to host jazz concerts with the likes of Alan Barnes and David Newton, Aquarium and Partikel – and other groups will offer the usual array of creative opportunities such as Shropshire Youth Theatre, the Shrewsbury Film Society, EDW Wrestling, the Shrewsbury Jazz Orchestra and Shrewsbury Life Drawing.

The Hive’s summer workshops also prove popular year after year and during the summer holidays a diverse variety of workshops are scheduled for young people, the workshops on offer encompass drama, animation, fashion, music-making, Taiko drumming and crafts. There will also be childrens puppet shows following the success of The Owl Who Was Afraid of The Dark – both Foxtails and The Ugly Duckling will be performed for young audiences.

From open mics for emerging talent through to world-class concerts from established musicians, languages through to toddler sessions and everything else in-between, I encourage people to get a copy of the brochure and find out for themselves just how much is on offer!”
