Volunteering at the Hive Music and Media Centre:
At the Hive, we recognise the dedication of our team of volunteers, who support our charity with events, projects and activities. We have previously participated in the V-Involved volunteering initiative, where volunteers can gain formal recognition for the time and effort that they offer...
Volunteers provide our organisation with a valuable resource and help us ensure that our work in the community continues to develop for the benefit of young people amongst others. We help volunteers with their professional development and overall, aim to offer a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
Volunteers help us as a charitable organisation in many ways, including for example, assistance with organising and managing events, front of house, plus marketing and promotion. There are many ways in which people can help us and we appreciate those who get involved.
Please note, that as a small staff team running one of Shropshire's busiest arts venues, we are unable to always offer people suitable volunteering opportunities. Whilst we value our volunteers, we continually receive a large volume of requests for volunteering each month and can not always manage everyone at the same point in time.

ellen@hiveonline.org.ukWork experience at our community arts venue:
Work Experience is a popular way for young people to get involved with the Hive and gain an insight into working for an arts charity. Work experience students have the unique opportunity to get involved with every aspect of how the centre is run on a daily basis - a valuable experience...
Please note, the Hive works with select schools each year for work experience placements. We can currently only consider pupils from The Grange School, William Brookes School, St John Talbot School and The Mary Webb School.
The Hive requires work experience students to be enthusiastic, positive and hard working, with an interest in the arts an essential requirement. Anyone interested in prospective work experience at the Hive Music and Media Centre in Shrewsbury should initially apply by email.
We will arrange a short informal interview as soon as possible for potential work experience pupils to ensure that we allocate places to those who are likely to benefit the most from their placement. Please be aware that we have limited places available for those who are eligible.
Overwhelming is the one word I would use to summarise the Hive. I have been here for one week and the work that is done throughout a week is amazing. They have many things going on everyday which makes The Hive a great place to be and I've never been bored once! Everyone is friendly and fun to be around - I have been involved in a range of activities and I've been made to feel very welcome, like one of the team!
