We have a fantastic opportunity for a young artist aged between 16 - 25 to produce a mural in our garden space at The Hive. The work will cover up a wall space in our outdoor garden area which is used for activities, projects and general visitors. We want to work with a young, Shropshire based artist - and we’re particularly interested in applications from people at the early stages of their creative career.
Closing date: 22nd March 2021
Submissions to: email@example.com
We’re looking for a piece of work around the theme of “Thriving, Creative Communities”. This can be any artistic style, from abstract to illustrative - but we’d love something that’s bold, striking and colourful that in some way incorporates our two key brand colours, blue and orange.
• £150 in materials to produce the mural
• £150 in vouchers for art materials
• A great chance to develop your portfolio
• Professional photos of your work
• Social media promotion
• Artwork on permanent display in a town centre venue
- Height: 2m 90cm, Width: 3m 85cm
- The mural will need to be painted during the month of April, either by yourself or someone you nominate to realise your design
Your safety is our top priority, so here’s what we’re going to do to protect you. You will be on site with only one member of staff to assist you with any queries, apart from that our building will be empty. You will be working outside in our garden space which is an open-air space. We ask that all times you wear a mask when inside the building and our staff member will do the same. You will need to sanitise your hands on entering the building, and observe a 2m distance with any other Hive staff.
Please send us a maximum of 500 words or equivalent (video, voice note) to tell us about yourself, your practice, any previous experience, why this would be a great opportunity for you and of course - what your concept for the mural is.
Please also attach a sketch and/or mockup of your planned mural.
Please also provide us with a list of materials you would need in order to complete the mural. We know things might change as you come to work on the wall, but this gives us an idea of what you might need.
After the closing date, a judging panel consisting of staff members from The Hive, trustees and an independent local artist will meet virtually to review all the applications and make a final decision, at which time, if you have been selected we will contact you.
If you require support to complete the mural, this can be provided. Please let us know in your application.
If you have any questions about the mural, application process or our covid safety measures, please do get in touch - we’re happy to help! firstname.lastname@example.org
