ACCESS INFORMATION

We are dedicated to making sure everyone feels welcome. Our friendly team are available to help you with any enquiries you might have. Please do not hesitate to ask should you need assistance.

To ensure your visit to The Hive is an enjoyable one, if you have any specific queries/requirements we recommend you contact the box office/reception in advance, either by email via admin@hiveonline.org.uk, or call us on 01743 234970 (Tuesday to Friday, 10:00am to 4:30pm)

• Any mobility needs can be met by accessing the building with a ramp placed at the entrance. We have a doorbell on our outermost door that can be used to notify staff in the building.  The maximum width of our front entrance is 82cm, with wider access points leading into our gallery/café/bar, and main performance space.

• Our entrance has a secondary automatic door, that swings open outwards to 90cm. This door will typically be set to automatically open upon sensing visitors during our box office hours or evening/weekend events. There is a buzzer system for visitors to alert staff to allow access should the door not open automatically.

• Aside from the step up at the entrance, which is 15cm high, the venue is on one floor with wheelchair accessible toilets in each toilet space, each of which also include a baby changing station. We do not have any gender-neutral toilets. The entrance doors to both toilet areas can be heavy to push open.

• For events in our performance space, we can reserve appropriate seating if needed, including leaving space for wheelchair users. Please do get in touch via telephone or email if you feel this would be helpful.

• Unless otherwise specified, gigs and events at the Hive will be seated.

• Guide dogs are welcome in all parts of the building.

Travel

• The Hive does not have any designated parking. On street paid parking is available opposite the building. The next closest car park is St Julian’s Friars. This can be accessed via the English Bridge, bear left onto Beeches Lane and then take the first left onto Williams Way. From the car park it is approximately 6 minutes’ walk to the Hive via Belmont Bank, please click here for directions if needed. Please be aware that Belmont Bank includes a reasonably steep incline along a cobbled road. The Hive can also be accessed via the A5191 (‘Wyle Cop’) turning left onto Milk Street and via Town Walls, turning right onto Belmont Bank, but both these routes still include an incline.
